In-House Graphic Designers, not so boring after all.

You know, after awhile, you're 30. And you start to wonder how many job changes can you survive. I averaged about 3 years per agency with 6 months to a year between jobs. Exciting, fun, built a modest reputation, liked it a lot! But then I turned 40. Friends were going into real estate. That was scary. So I angled for an in-house opportunity and well the first one was a bust but after dinking my way into a second shot at another mega company, I started to see the light. Nobody knows my name any more and certainly not my work but my "clients" trust me to produce presentations to heads of state and African communities and sometimes even to the world at large. So I ask myself, is this fate? destiny? luck? And If I get to be a designer until I die, does anybody win anything?

If you're a designer until you die, you've definitely won.

Yeah, I lot of people just think agency, agency, agency. But in reality, there are a ton of really great client-side jobs out there.

I love my job, but I'm dying to try to agency side of things. The grass is always greener I know, but it seems like you're given a lot of trust that is lacking in my experience in-house.

how do you find in house jobs? I never see any listed.
