I have a strong academic background in advertising as well as hands-on experience in the industry that has equipped me with the wide range of skills needed to be a great Account Planner. During my undergraduate education, I took a summer off to attend the Miami Ad School where I took courses in copywriting, art direction and account planning. It was there that I decided to focus my graduate education in account planning.
While in graduate school at Boston University, I contracted on a variety of projects while also holding a part-time internship at Plan-it Marketing. There I assisted the planners by writing questionnaires, analyzing focus groups and in-depth interviews for insights and trends, conducting in-depth interviews, and performing research to help win new business. I also took a contract position at Modernista studying trends affecting their Hummer and Cadillac brands in the upcoming year. Along with my partner, I conducted a focus group, several in-depth interviews and partnered that with a variety of secondary research to develop a report.
Upon graduation, I decided to head west to San Francisco because of a growing interest in sustainability and the impact I could have by educating consumers on its merits. I arrived there in January of 2008, and quickly landed my first full- time position as an Account Manager at Green Zebra, an eco-marketing startup. Green Zebra features clients from locally-owned retail stores, restaurants, fashion, spas and fitness while also working with larger companies like PG&E and Esurance. Green Zebra allowed me to assume many roles while really bringing out the best in my problem solving personality. In my first year I lead the team in sales while managing over 70 clients, prompting a promotion to Director of Operations. In this role, I took on the additional responsibility of managing a team of four, the company’s accounting, website, and strategic development.
These past six months I’ve spent most of my time developing a web-based coupon product to replace our annual print guide. I’ve managed every aspect of the transition from helping the founders find a web developer, to communicating Green Zebra's needs to our designer, on to developing the strategy behind our new product.
I have produced award winning art direction and copywriting, worked as an Account Planner, and was promoted after one year of working as an Account Manager. If you are interested in contacting me regarding an opening at your agency please write me at kaleedankner@gmail.com.
