GSP proves Marshawn Lynch is a national treasure.

There is nothing Marshawn Lynch does that doesn’t make us crack up. And these new spots from Goodby Silverstein & Partners and Common Sense Media for its “Device Free Dinner” campaign are no exception. They continue the quest to highlight how pervasive mobile devices have become during our face-to-face time with families and friends. 

“Our devices keep us connected, informed, and engaged, but in today’s tech-driven world it’s important to take breaks,” said James P. Steyer, founder and CEO of Common Sense. “Research shows that kids and adults alike feel addicted to their devices, and our need to constantly check them undermines family connections. Family interaction, including eating meals together, is critical for children’s social and intellectual development.”

Created by Goodby Silverstein & Partners and timed with football season and the holidays, the first series of ads feature our favorite former Cal Bear, Marshawn Lynch. Not only is Marshawn the central figure in the spots, but they were also produced with his production company, shot on location at his restaurant, and all performed without a script.

“Football fans and humans love Marshawn. He is a force of nature. In these commercials, we attempt to simply get out of the man’s way. It results in great comedy, but also a message that truly connects with a wider audience. There is nothing like these spots,” said Jeff Goodby, Co-Chairman and Partner, GS&P.
